Privacy Policy
Effective August 18, 2026
Kehilla LLC (“Kehilla,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Kehilla mobile application and related services. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to community members and business owners.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Kehilla, we may collect:
- Account and profile information: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, optional profile details, ZIP code, neighborhood, profile photo, and authentication identifiers.
- Business and community content: business listings, ownership information, verification documents, posts, photos, events, jobs, deals, property listings, RSVPs, applications, recommendations, saved items, reports, and support requests.
- Location information: approximate or precise foreground location when you allow it, plus locations or map pins that you choose for profiles, businesses, events, or listings. We do not request background location access.
- Contacts: if you choose the invite-friends feature, the app reads eligible contacts on your device to create a picker. Kehilla sends one-way hashes of normalized phone numbers and email addresses to privately identify existing members. We do not upload or store your raw address book, and we do not send invitations without your action.
- Payments and subscriptions: Apple or Google purchase identifiers, subscription status, offer eligibility, billing period, and entitlement history. Apple and Google process payment details; Kehilla does not receive or store full card numbers or security codes.
- Device and usage information: device and push notification identifiers, notification preferences, app activity, diagnostic logs, security events, and basic product analytics.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and secure accounts and enforce age and access rules;
- provide community discovery, maps, nearby results, and Shabbat times;
- publish and manage profiles, businesses, posts, events, jobs, deals, and rentals;
- process and verify subscriptions and founding-member eligibility;
- deliver notifications, service emails, support, and safety tools;
- prevent fraud, abuse, duplicate purchases, and unauthorized account access;
- measure reliability and improve Kehilla's features and performance; and
- comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
3. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for cross-app tracking or third-party targeted advertising. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Kehilla, including hosting and database providers, push notification and email providers, map services, sign-in providers, and Apple or Google for subscription processing. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.
Information you intentionally publish—such as a public profile, business page, post, event, job, deal, or rental—may be visible to other users and through shared links. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
4. Permissions and your choices
- Location: optional and used only while the app is in use. You can choose a ZIP code or neighborhood instead.
- Contacts: optional and used only when you open the invite flow. You may use the system share option without granting contact access.
- Photos: requested only when you choose an image to upload.
- Notifications: optional and controllable in the app and in device settings.
You can update profile information and visibility, manage notification preferences, and remove content you control from the relevant app screens where available.
5. Retention and account deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide Kehilla, protect the community, maintain subscription and transaction records, comply with law, and resolve disputes. You can submit an account-deletion request in the app under Settings. Once approved, the account and related personal and business data are deleted or de-identified. Some limited records may be retained when legally required or necessary for fraud prevention, billing reconciliation, safety, or dispute handling.
6. Security
We use encrypted network connections, authentication controls, role-based access, database security policies, and server-side purchase verification. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect information using reasonable technical and organizational safeguards.
7. Children
Kehilla is intended for people age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Kehilla changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate channel.
